What Should I Expect?

Brachytherapy is radiation therapy delivered over a short distance. Instead of using external radiation from outside the body, brachytherapy delivers the dose directly inside the body where the cancer was removed or next to the existing tumor. Brachytherapy is very important in the treatment of vaginal, cervical and uterine cancers and is most often performed as an outpatient procedure.

Unlike alternative brachytherapy procedures, which use radioactive isotopes, the Xoft Electronic Brachytherapy System uses a nonradioactive electronic X-ray source.

"I want more women to know about this. I just can't believe how lucky I was to have this type of procedure available to me in my community."
