Creating the future of radiation oncology
A message from CEO Michael Klein
At Xoft, we are delivering on the promise of Electronic Brachytherapy (eBx™). Our mission is to target cancer more effectively and to expand the volume of patients who can access radiation therapy. We see the opportunity for radiation therapy as only partially realized and, with greater access, we can make the Xoft eBx technology available to many more patients around the globe. More >>

Intraoperative Radiation Therapy (IORT)
Marianne H. of Illinois was the first patient to undergo Intraoperative Radiation Therapy (IORT) utilizing Xoft Inc.'s Axxent® Electronic Brachytherapy (eBx) System.
Electronic Brachytherapy (eBx) is a novel form of radiation therapy that uses an electronic, non-isotopic source to generate kV X-rays. This form of radiation therapy eliminates the need for an HDR afterloader device, heavy shielding, and regulations associated with radioisotope handling and disposal. The mobile nature of the system, as well as the limited shielding requirements has helped spur interest in the device as a modality in the delivery of IORT.
All Axxent treatments must be performed with a thorough knowledge of radiation physics, proper planning, dosimetric calculations and knowledge of radio-biological effectiveness; therefore, we require that a radiation therapist/oncologist administer the use of Axxent systems. We do not support the use of Axxent systems by anyone other than radiation professionals (trained and certified). We rigorously enforce this, as patient safety and efficacy is pre-eminent to us.
“A machine like this can be used anywhere. So I think that's very important because it gives tons of women a better option.”
